I attach this letter you to make a better picture.
It concern two my competitors.
1.Street Self Defense /Masters/.
How can be Masters division judged by people, whose averange age is 20, maybe 23?
Especially at the World Cup?
a) My competitor was punished, because his 2 nd attacker didn’t attack him right away, there
was 1-2 sec gap, than he made his attack.
Everything else was ok. Techniques, performance with the power and energy, real
powerful attack, real defense. In 4 th scenario were 5 attacks, 3without weapon, 2 with
weapon.
b) In his opponent case situation was similar. The deffender just made from 1 st attacker a
shield. But the main thing was, the 2 nd attacker was waiting until the defender would
finished the 1 st attacker. He wasn’t trying to find the way to attack, to find the different
angle for his attack. There was no real attack, no power, no technique of attack.
In 4 th scenario were just 2 attacks without weapon.
c) Once we talking about Street Self Defense, we have to see all the picture as a street fight.
The most important is the defender’s work, his techniques and tactics. Sometime the
attacks don’t go one after another, there ARE the gaps, The defender makes them
deliberately.
Real Street Self Defense is not a game on the computer, it’s real fight on the street.
If we call the division Street Self Defense we should look at the whole situation.
Just in instance:
If one guy approach two others with the smile on his face and his hand are open, than just
in the second start the fight with one guy, do you think the second guy go straight, right
away after him?
No, in the 90 percent his brain get frozen at least for 2,3 seconds. Than he just he realise
what is happening and maybe start to do something. Just maybe.
The Rule Book is ok, we need the rules, but it is mostly just a theory – especially in real
street self defense. Alongside that we have to use our knowledges, our experience, or own
head to be able to make the right judgment.
Talking about the Rule Book, I don’t think the referees used the Rule Book same way in
these two cases.
If we compare these two deffender’s performance, my student has been underestimated,
and wrongly judged. I am sure about that.
We don’t care about getting bronze medal, or silver medal. That;s not matter.
What matters is ,there is no way to make that kind of mistakes at the World Cup.
What matters is fair competition, making minimum mistakes, and if we do, correct it.
2) C-Viadal
Here is what happened to my 16 years old student:
He was on schedule fighting C-Viadal / light sparring/.
There were two big sceens on the wall, that showed competitors matches. Their
opponents, order, how many fights in his divison are before his fight.
The second control was Application on mobile phones to double check the schedule.
We had 30 minutes time, there were 4 matches before his fight. That’s what we checked
on the screen and double checked in the phone app.
He was warming up in the corridor next to the main hall I was giving him technical
instruction. He was getting ready for his fight by whole team. We checked schedule on
the screen, and in the phones too every 2-3 minutes.
Than he heard saying his name into the microphone. By the way, there were 2 or 3
microphone lines, and many times they all worked in the same time.
We weren’t sure because of the noise and mixed words from all microphones.
We checked screen again, his fight was according to the schedule still on the 4 place.
Than his name on the sceen just disappeared …
I spoke immediately to the people in charge, to referees, the main referee, to you, Mr,
president.
I said “ my student was warming up outside the competition hall, n the corridor, because
inside wasn’t enough room, but we always checked the sceen “.
They said” The schedule has been changed ,we called him by microphone more times,he
didn’t come to the competition area, the match was over “.
I said “ we always checked schedule on the sceen, we did not understand the words in the
microphones, especially if the people talked to them in the same time “.
They said “ you have to always listen to microphone “
I said “ What is the wall screen for than? You have changed the timetable, you called my
boy for the fight 30 minutes earlier , the wall screen still showed 4 matches before him,
and now you say it’s over…?
They said “ According the Rule Book ,the only option could’ve been, that his opponent
wanted to fight him. But as he was announced the winner, he didn’t want to.
RULE BOOK.
I said “ My boy has been training hard, getting ready for this high World Cup for 6
months, he paid a lot of money, he came here from Slovakia to show what he’d got.
He didn’t want just a medal, he wanted to fight, to express himself.
You, just let him down, all of you, Mr. president,
As a professional at this highest World Cup event you shoul’ve tried to find solution.
The solution? How about this ?
What if you said ;
Ok, we can do nothing about the match, it’s over, …BUT, we will find the way to sort
this out. We will find you the opponent, ..maybe you could fight in the weight category
higher..
The situation like this, or similar, happened too many times, I personally have been
through situation like this at the competitions of lover and higher level too.
My competitor wanted to fight,, he was ready, sweated, warmed up.
He wouldn’ve care, I wouldn’ve care.
And you decided…
NO, It was over. Done. One match over.
But for my 16 years old boy it was maybe end of the world.
! And I say it again , it was NOT his/our fault !
There are always the rules we have to follow. UWSKF use it’s Rule Book.
Ok, agree.
BUT, it should NOT been used like a Bible!
The professionality, along with experiences , humanity and respect to each other,
shouldn’t been forgotten.
Kind regards
